The Movement from Eastern Georgia #gagenealogy #georgiapioneers

The Movement West from Eastern Georgia

Thomas Leverett enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Wilkes County where his family resided, serving until the latter part of 1779. Leverett participated in skirmishes and helped to guard the neighborhood and frontiers against Indian Tories and the British troops. During 1780 he volunteered at the court house in Columbia County and served under the command of Captain John Clark as well as Colonel Elijah Clarke. He served as a private in the Infantry and Cavalry of the Georgia Militia for eighteen months. In June of 1781 he was at the siege of Augusta, and discharged afterwards. Next, he enlisted for three years in the Georgia Continental Line. As many pension applications contain a record of the bible belonging to the soldier, that of Thomas Leverett is included. Also, the family tree is available to members of Georgia Pioneers
