Still Looking for Treasures of the Past?

During the 1920s and 30s the American economy suffered from a depression.  Salaries were like $10 per week or less and the order of the day was to save everything.  My grandmother saved cotton balls from prescription bottles which was used to make pillows.  Also buttons, re purposed fabric and old newspapers, to name a few.  The homes were plainly built, with high ceilings and no insulation.  So, it is not unusual to discover an old house with newspapers stuffed between the walls.  Nothing was thrown away.  A lucrative treasure was discovered several years back of movie posters being used for insulation.
