The Scotch-Irish in South Carolina

Antrim, IrelandMany of the immigrants from Scotland and Ireland embarked from County Antrim and landed in Pennsylvania. Belfast was a common port city in the North Channel which brought immigrants to America. Emigrants to Pennsylvania 1641-1819, a book by Michael Tepper, consolidates Ship Passenger Lists from the Pennsylvania Magazine. Once in Pennsylvania, the immigrants moved into some South Carolina Counties, such as Chester, Laurens and Greenville. The place to search for them in Pennsylvania is Bucks and Berks where they lived among countrymen for awhile before moving on. Ultimately, the descendants of those families who migrated during the mid 18th century, dribbled down into Georgia. . . . more . . .
